My Favorite Muppet: Animal!

Posted by: miklint In: Uncategorized

The Muppet Show is probably the only show from my childhood which I still enjoy to watch. This might be an odd thing but rewatching most of the programs I grew up with tends to give me an unpleasant, sometimes even depressing, feeling. (I admit this is a little weird, but I do know of other people experiencing the same.) But this is not the case with the Muppet Show. I really liked en still like it. Especially the two old grumpy men and of course Animal. Maybe Animal was some sort of a role model for me back in those days. Anyhow, I made this lens with all kinds of Animal trivia, facts, quotes and merchandise. Sadly enough it hasn’t been indexed for about half a year or so but I will stay patient. Just as I have learned from my childhood hero.

That’s what I asked myself. I am currently updating my ” health benefits of active Manuka honey lens” and I want to add a few photos in such a way that they fit perfectly in the module. Doing a search on Google as well as on the Squidu forum did not result in an answer to this question. That’s why I have tested it and I found out that the exact width in pixels of a Squidoo module is 593 px. This is the ideal width for a picture to fit in the module. You can check out this page for an example.

My latest Squidoo lens is about how to get more extended statistics on a Squidoo lens. I started this lens actually more as a sort of little test case. I wanted to know myself if it was possible to add GA (Google Analytics) to Squidoo. When I did a search on big ol Google I didn’t find the answer. The first two search engine result pages were saturated with content that did not meet my request.

When digging deeper I noticed that there are only 203 results for the exact match of the keywords “adding google analytics to Squidoo lens”. Most of the pages on Google page 1 having a PageRank of 2 or less. According to my favorite keyword research tool Wordtracker there are 26 searches a day. So relative to the amount and the poor quality of  the results this are a lot of people searching. (and finding nothing)

Only one of the websites which came up has this particular key phrase in its title and only 3 in their URL. So that’s why I thought why not make a little page which offers an answer to this question and at the same time see if I can rank relative easily in Google. (call it a little SEO project) I started with answering the question; ‘can you add Google Analytics to a Squidoo lens?’ which is ‘ No you can’t’. But then I thought, also stimulated thanks to a very quick comment from an experienced lensmaster (thanks Spirituality), why not offer an alternative?

So I started searching for non-Javascript based stats. This because the reason you can’t add GA on Squidoo is because Squidoo does’t allow us to add Javascript. This led me to Clicky Web Analytics. Clicky is free and offers both a Javascript based stats solution and  non-Javascript based statistics. I  have implemented Clicky on this lens but since there haven’t been visitors I haven’t been able to fully judge Clicky Web Analytics.

Just started with blogging on Squidtop and the first problem I encounter is that links do not show up. Doing a quick Google search didn’t resolve this little problem. Will be back with the answer soon.

Amfibious Rodent? Say Whaaat!?

Posted by: miklint In: Uncategorized

This blog is called Amfibious Rodent because I really like the movie it’s mentioned in. Yes, I’m talking about The Big Lebowski. One of the best movies ever, at least that’s just my opinion man. I could talk hours about this great movie but let’s not do that.

This blog is all about me and my Squidoo progression. At least if there is any :) Well as a matter of fact there is. I am not sure if I’m on the right track but my goal is to become an independent (financially that is) Internet marketer. And I thought it might be wise to start with Squidoo because it has a few great advantages. (ranking relatively easy for a certain key phrase is one of them)

My plan is too test a few niches and see which ones bring in some cash. If I have found one or more I want to expand with building an authority site. It’s all about learning by doing. I hope with sharing my Squidoo experiences at this spot to get in touch with fellow upcoming affiliate marketers and share some valuable insights.

Why I decided to let a ‘nice marmot’ be the namegiver of this blog? Well I know keyword technically spoken it’s not very smart but yeah, I just like the name and the movie. No rational reason for it I guess. Maybe because I also want to ramble about things I like personally like movies and futurology to name one of my other interests.
